the 1620 runs, poorly, vista. so gateway supports vista. the question was about xp. i have the same problem, the computer locks up on vista but runs windows fine. i have drivers from all over the place to work around the problem that gateway doesn't support xp on this computer. the last needle in the haystack is the driver to make the hdmi audio come out the TV. help?

Then you have to continue hunting.

It's becoming more and more rare for folk to perform driver hunts for others. I'm finding fewer and fewer will do that.

And it's upsetting to those that are used to others that did that in the past.

Times are changing.

Try DriverGuide.com

I've found a lot of drivers at http://www.driverguide.com . Give them a try, but since Gateway doesn't provide XP drivers, are you sure your laptop will work with it? Look before you leap because it's possible it might not. Also bear in mind that XP is 12 years old and MS is going to pull the plug on it next year. If you don't like Vista, you'd be better off going to Windows 7.

Good luck.
