gateway laptop

I just replaced my gateway laptop hard drive with a brand new Western Digital scorpio, when installing windows XP it is telling me that windows can not be installed because windows did not find a hard disk installed, and it is installed, what should I do to so it can be detected?, there are no jumpers or anything like that.

I would really appreciate any help.

Is this a SATA drive? If so, check your documentation on how Gateway installs the supplied OS to that drive type since XP knows nothing about SATA drives.

Your choice to supply make and models of such things but the HOW DO I INSTALL XP TO A SATA DRIVE has been discussed a few hundred times here. Type those words in to learn more.

I'm not saying I won't help but I couldn't find the make, models so I can't give any direct answer other than a wild guess it was a SATA drive.

Their FAQ's and Online accessable papers are actually not to shabby. You should be able to find something (including the papers you can't find) in their web based support.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
