What's the price of this model ?

Sometimes you can get a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a Core Duo for 100 $ of more.

Gateway you said .... I have more confident for a popular brand like HP, Dell or Toshiba.

One rule : don't be cheap. You will have always for your money. Less you pay, less you will have fun with your system.

Check for one of these Compaq Presario V2000z. the neightboor of R. Proffitt have two and he loves it. Pretty nice laptop with the most powerful single-core processor. If you want to pay 100-150 $ of more, you can get the latest technology with a Core Duo processor. Look at the Inspiron E1405.

But for a non-Windows Vista upgrade, a Celeron processor is correct for your utilisation, but the bad side of a Celeron is that there is no future ... Leave the office applications, the performances are poor.

Replacement for Dell

Well I actually replaced a Dell Inspiron 1000 with this Gateway, as I said I don't play computer games, use a Nitendo DS for game play. Don't use office applications and just do basic computing, I did get the Gateway and I am happy with a bigger hard drive, DVD burner and the integrated wireless the Dell had a wireless card.

Sold the Dell to a co worker for $200.00 so I am happy and I like the Gateway, really don't need the duo core.. Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions
