Gateway FX540VX vs Dell XPS 630

by Cadail / March 1, 2008 9:49 AM PST

I know both are relatively new, but would like some advice on which of the 2. Looking for a mianstream gaming machine, but also a desktop I can use for all the home-type stuff.

The Gateway seems to be a better choice all things considered (price and components), but never had a Gateway before and Cnet gave rave reviews of the Dell.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Gateway FX540VX vs Dell XPS 630

I was looking at both of those too but quickly down graded the XPS 630 due to it's HUGE tower 7.83" (W) x 19.32" (H) x 22.05" (D).
Compared to Gateways 8" (W) 16.5" (H) x x 17.5" (D)

22.05" is very deep front to back (unless you need all that room inside). It's just too big for my desk set up.

So now looking at the XPS 420 and Gateway FX540.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
