Gas prices down to pre-Katrina level in my area.

by EdH / October 10, 2005 12:57 AM PDT

Who should I complain to? What if they go down more? Should I panic?

Those greedy oil company SOBs!

Don't panic yet

Those greedy SOBs are still making plenty of money in my area, where gas prices are still at $2.99 for regular.

But I think you might be on that line from the Gulf and that's why it's higher?

Anyway, what's my tune?

I'm surprised, EdH -- the national average is 2.91,
by Dave Konkel [Moderator] / October 10, 2005 11:08 PM PDT

at least .30 higher than pre-Katrina. The one (Murphy) station with gas at 2.69 has long lines; most stations here are in the 2.80's. Are you in one of the states that's temporarily decreased its gas tax?

Gulf area refinery damage or pipeline damage, perhaps?

That's a Vermont price. It's a couple cents less in Keene, NH. Even cheaper in New Jersey but that makes sense because that's where the refineries are.

Not quite back to pre-Katrina levels ...
by Evie / October 11, 2005 12:31 PM PDT

... but getting there and regularly going down. We didn't even have more than a teensie short-lived spike following Rita. That was only a couple of cents and lasted all of a day or two.

Down to $2.70/gal.
