Gaming Problems - Need more Power

Whenever I run Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour the game itself plays fine however the movies are very slow and choppy. Is this a slow CD Drive or Hard Drive?

My System:
3.0Ghz HT P4 (Socket LGA 775)
512Mb RAM
60GB Western Digital Hard Drive either 5400rpm or 7200
CD-RW Drive w/ 40X max speed 30X average speed and a random seek time of 95 Milliseconds.

John, You Leave Out Info About Your Video Card...

In reply to: Gaming Problems - Need more Power

When playing intensive games and playing high resolution movies, you'll want to have a good video card with 128 or 256 MB of its OWN memory. In addition, I just set up a 3.0 Pentium 4 machine that also had 512 MB of RAM. Kicking it up to 1 GB and installing a decent video card (it had integrated video)put things in order.

Hope this helps.

Sorry about that.

It's a 128Mb GeForce4 Ti4600.
I'm getting an SATA 160Gb 7200rpm HD in a few months and thinking about 1Gb of memory but I don't know if I want to spend the money for it since the game itself plays fine, just the intro movies are slow.

Reason

It's probably because your graphics card cannot handle the graphics. The speed of your cd-rom is more than sufficient for the game and so's the rest of your system. I'd check the graphics card and the settings of both the card and the game.

P.S. I think this is in the wrong forum...

Are you sure?

...Because the game itself plays fine, it is only the intro movies that are slow. Sorry about the forum mixup.
