your mobo/cpu is socket 939 based which was obsoleted 2 years ago. there are no new CPUs you can upgrade to... you'd have to look for a used one. more and more games are dual-core optimized now so and you'd wind up being cpu-bound in many games.
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to hardware upgrades, and what upgrades will be most efficient for the money. I was hoping you guys could give some possible budget upgrades to help this PC keep up with the latest and greatest games. This computer was built 4 years ago.
Right now my PC has the following components:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (2.2 GHz)
Motherboard: eVGA nForce4 SLI (Discontinued model I believe.)
GPU: eVGA nVidia Ge-Force 7800 GT (256 MB)
Memory: 1 GB (2x512 Kit) Corsair DDR 400
HD: WD 100 GB 7200 RPM SATA
Case: Xion II Black/Blue Model
I really want to get a different case around the 50 dollar mark because the motherboard connectors for the case weren't even 100% compatible, and the USB ports are only functional in the back (not the front). Other than that I am looking to boost the performance.
Thanks a lot for any responses!
