Gaming laptop - Tip if I should by MSI laptop

Jun 22, 2015 7:17AM PDT

Do you think the below is worth the money (€1200) for a good gaming laptop:

- MSI GE60 Core i7-4720 - Windows 7 Pro - 16GB - 256GB SSD + 1TB - GeForce GTX 860

Or any alternatives?
Asus ROG GL551 JW-DS71 is very expensive from UK so I opt out from this option

Why the outdated OS?
Jun 22, 2015 7:35AM PDT

You may be hampering getting the best performance with Windows 7 Pro. The discussion of 7 vs 8 ended when Classic Shell arrived. The unheard of to many reasons for 8 over 7 is simple. A lot of old API calls and more were swept away giving us a cleaner OS underneath.

It was a shame Microsoft pressed so hard on Metro but again, Classic Shell fixed that.

With Windows 10 just a few weeks away you also DO NOT WANT TO BUY NOW since newer laptops are delayed till the 29th. No reason to pull the trigger this close to that day.

Go for the updated model

The newer GE62 would be a better bet at this point. you can find them for about the same price on some e-tailer sites.

you can check out a review from pauls hardware here too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbmXdNPXKnM

MSI is definitely worth it

I think its definitely worth the money. The MSI GE Series is a really balanced choice because it's very affordable for the the quality and specs it comes with. You'll be able to game away comfortably with no problem with this laptop.

GE60 is better cooling and keyboard.

I think GE60 is good, better cooling design, keyboard with backlit and steelseries engine software with macro keys function for gaming and some photo editing software.
I don't think OS version is the problem, because most of the model with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 could upgrade to Windows 10 in few months, just need to wait the latest reliable drivers come out for Windows 10.

It is really depends on what you are doing and the budget you wanna spend with this laptop.

Both laptops are really good. If I were you, I will go the cheapest one.
