Galaxy S2 Encryption Failed screen

I bought a cheap Samsung Galaxy S2 that was described as 'locked, just needs hard reset', Now its showing "Encryption Failed" with the option to "reset phone". I clicked "reset phone" and it keeps show this "Encryption Failed" screen... What to do now?
btw, I'm not a very Tech-savvy person, so the easiest/clearest/step-by-step method possible would do

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2473176&page=32 and other pages tell me that someone tried to root the phone. I'd hit XDA again and try to root it again.
