Question

Galaxy S Advance hangs a lot since 1 month and damages sdcar

Mar 29, 2014 12:25PM PDT

Hi All,

Since about one month, I am facing a serious issue on my phone. I had upgraded to jelly bean a couple of months back, but since one month, the phone hangs a lot. I had moved all my apps possible to a 16gb sdcard. Because of the number of restarts that have happened, nowadays, the phone displays that the sdcard is damaged and that i need to reformat. Thus all data in sdcard is lost, i have to reformat it to use it. Again after a while, the phone hangs ,I rstart and it shows that the sdcard is damaged, i reformat, it goes on like this. I had done factory reset too quite a few times and also done wipe cache partition too. But still no use. I have tried apps like clean master, etc to reduce the memory being use also. This seems to be having since the last one month suddenly. Please advise.I am tired of losing data, hanging phone,... Sad

I suggest.....

......that you get a new SD Card. When I upgraded from a Motorola handset last year, my S4 gave me a similar issue that you described. After several re-formats a friend recommended a new SD Card and no such problems after.

Are you sure? I mean, my sdcard is about 2 years old and bought is around the same time as the phone. But what could be connection between phone hanging frequently since 1 month and its connection with the sdcard ? For me the problem with the sdcard started only because I have to keep restarting the phone and I had to keep restarting often as it started to hang a lot since 1 month. My feeling is that, if I could find out why it is hanging so often suddenly, sdcard issue would also be solved.

I will replace the sd card. But I was wondering how this is related to phone hanging since one month. Can you kindly tell me. The link that you shared only talks about sdcard damaged.

From my experience

The SD card that I replaced when I went from a Motorola phone to my current Samsung S4 just stopped working and no reformatting would solve the problem. The cost of a new SD Card is minimal and worth it. I suspect it will resolve your issues.

There could have been a corrupt install of the OS update. If a new SD card doesn't solve the issue, a complete system restore might help.

Completely agree

Can't agree more. You have nothing to lose, try it! The final resort would be a system reset!
