Turned out the author of the OS (I used one from XDA Developers) had done that on purpose. The line would vanish as it powered off. I can see where some would call such a defect and why not call it that to shop for some tablet that is not annoying or a case where the maker is not conveying what's up?

In this forum experience a thin horizontal line when powering on the tablet? It happens when the " Galaxy Note Pro 12.2" appears on start up. This is my second tablet that is doing this. I returned my original one last week cause I was positive it was a defect in the tablet, now this replacement is doing the same thing. I did notice this time that this glitch only started after I installed the update that was for the tablet. It seems that it is software related.
