Gadwin Print Screen and Vista

Jul 27, 2008 11:37PM PDT

I am hoping someone can help me. i just recently went from windows XP to Windows Vista home basic, and now i am having issues with my Gadwin print screen.

I can get a screeen capture of a web page or my desktop with no problems(the image shows up fine) BUT, when i try to get an in game shot of my sims 2 game- the image is all black!-- i have always used gadwin print screen to get my in game shots(for contests and such) without an issue--until now..

soeone told me it has something to do with a feature called overlay in windows media player conflicting with the program that needs to be shut off--BUT, i am running windows media player 11 and cannot find that option anywhere! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me..

thanks so much in advance.

Why not ask them?

I have contacted them..

They just haven't had the common courtesy to contact me back- and i am starting to get annoyed! i know a poster on here had the same type of issue, and was able to fix it-- that is why i posted this here..

I fixed mine but...

Some don't like it. I lowered the graphic acceleration to none so screen captures could work. For gaming I'll turn it back up.

Adjust acceleration..

how do i do that?

Try these words on google.

VISTA VIDEO ACCELERATION

OK I DID

What exactly do i need to find to help with my problem?

HUH?

reduce what to zero? can you explain that a little more? it is 5:28am here sun morning and i cannot figure out what you are talking about.

You've learned ...

What VISTA VIDEO ACCELERATION is on the control panel. Now slide it to zero or none. At that setting, screen capture programs work.

If you can't do that, ask a friend about this.

Sorry if i irritated you but..

when it comes to pc's and figuring them out, i am a total idiot...

so let me get this straight, START BUTTON>CONTROL PANEL>
then i go to whichever video acceleration thing is in the control panel and slide the setting to zero or none...

what i need to know is where to look in the control panel, because if i am looking in the right spot, all i see is quicktime for windows and i see nothing to slide..

The problem is...

That I have 3 Vista machines here and the exact click by click how to get to the graphics acceleration is different on each one. That is why I can't tell you exactly since there is an one in three chance I'll be wrong. However if I offer a GUIDE to what to change and offer GOOGLE links to the subject you should be able to get to the setting.

If anyone is irritated about anything it should be those that bought this.

whi would be greatful

for whatever help you can give me-- whether it is a guide and links or whatever. when it comes to some of this pc stuff i am totally clueless. if it helps any, a friend of mine recommended a different screen capture program, and it does exactly the same thing--- so something in vista has to be conflicting with it.

also, will meesing with the video acceleration affect my gameplay?

Recap.
Aug 3, 2008 10:45PM PDT

If I type VISTA VIDEO ACCELERATION at google.com and further VISTA REDUCE GRAPHICS ACCELERATION, I find all three paths to the the setting that would correct this issue.

As to affecting gameplay, it should but then you can turn it back up after you take the shot.

i figured out how to get into the area..
Aug 4, 2008 10:04AM PDT

but, i have no slider bar Sad this is really starting to frustrate me to no end.. if it heklps any i have and ATI Radeon HD 3600 with 1gb ram.. if that makes any difference.

And there is why I can't tell you exactly!!!

You only now shared you have a specific video card. The setting changes from card to card or more specifically from driver to driver. Even if I was lucky enough to own your card, ATI's drivers could change the path to the setting we want to play with from version to version.

This is why I know to look around the various areas for this setting. In some drivers and the control panel for said cards it's only an on/off setting.

YOU HAVE TO APPLY YOURSELF HERE. Or call up ATI and ask them to walk you to the panel and where to click. Remember I don't own or have access to this one, plus what driver version so I can't give you a click by click step to where it is.

-> CALL THEM.

you never asked which type of card i had
Aug 5, 2008 1:35AM PDT

and i was tired and had other things on my mind so i thought i had posted my type of card in my first post.. no need to get rude about it.. i do have a help ticket in to ATI but, lord knows if they'll respond..its been a week and i still haven't heard from gadwin..

I never ask. Here's why.

When you post and each time you post you see these words.

"Note: If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem."

Beyond what I wrote above it is nearly impossible to give an exact click by click, screen by screen instruction today due to the machines and drivers having no consistency. I know some that understand this eventually must be fixed but it won't today.

What I can do is give you the feature that you want to adjust or turn off or on and then the basic words so you are well armed to figure out where in your system it is.

Hope this explains this well enough for you.
