G4 powerpc processors..

Oct 19, 2005 11:24PM PDT

A rather basic question...... about windows 'blue screen of death', is it the result of the OS or the intel processors??

In any case, do you think the intel processors will be better than the powerpc ones??
I dont know if i should wait for the intel PB to come out or should i just buy the powerpc PB......since i dont want this PB to last a really long time, i.e no more laptops after this purchasse.

thank you

The cut throat price and pressure on pricing makes a lot of machines a little too unstable. A little heat or a little too much draw on a taxed power supply and the results are similar for all computers.

"i dont want this PB to last a really long time, i.e no more laptops after this purchasse."

That's an odd statement. To make the PB last a short time, just drop it.

But with the Intel units within months I wait. Your choice here.

For me, my last laptop lasted 4 years and then was gifted to a friend. Now its 5 years old. These laptops will last a very long time for most if they know to never abuse the units, clean the heatsinks and such yearly.

You can't imagine how many I see in backpacks (they get bumped too much) and upset users pound on the keyboard. Witnessing such abuse I think more than 1/2 the failures are user induced. I only noted the 2 items that make me cringe.

If the new MacTels boot Windows I will buy, if not I can't buy. My income is dependent on Palm and Windows applications so the choice is simple.
