The iBook G3 was produced between July 1999 and October 2003 & took two different guises.

The first was the colourful clamshell design that you may attribute with the original iBook, which was discontinued in May 2001. It was a variety of colours, just like the first iMac, or iMac G3.

The iBook G4 (or final iBook - since it was never followed with an iBook G5) was produced from October 2004 to May 2006. It was replaced by the MacBook.

www.apple-history.com will have more if you are interested.

This 733MHz machine, are you referring to Nov 02 - April 03 iBook G3? This machine had a base processor of 700MHz, while its successor of April 2003 - October 2003 had a base G3 of 800Mz.

Finally, no. For today, and Mac OS 10.4.7 - 733MHz is not fast at all.

Udayan.

is that the G3 processor was completely different from the G4 processor.

The G4 was more efficient and was much faster at processing than an equivalent speed G3, so a G3 @ 733Mhz would process slower than a G4 @733Mhz

As noted, 733 Mhz is not fast by todays standards.
