G4 error burn

Aug 9, 2007 5:01AM PDT

I up-dated my G4 Mac 400 to 1.5ghz,& 1.2 gig ram, changed the original DVD to the newer dvr 127D internal burner. I am using the OS 10.3.9, iphoto program to burn photos to CD's. When I get the near the end of the burning, I will get the following error message "2147352477". This message is not listed in the mac lists of error codes. The Apple Store Genius could not help, "just bring in the unit and they will check it out". When I use Dragon Burn everything works fine. I need to do something to correct this error problem, but what?

where did you get it from?

Mac OS X will only support certain DVD burners when burning from iLife although it will support a larger selection if you only burn from the Finder.

Without the manufacture & complete model number, there is not much we can tell you apart from OS X does not fully support this burner.

More details please

to this model on the MacSales site, it does not show using the search function, but I do have a question or two.

The current recommended model at MacSales, for the G4, is the Pioneer DVR-112D.

The details for this drive contain the following:
"OWC NOTE: At this time, there is no native support* for this drive when using Mac OS X. Dual layer DVD burning is supported using the following software (Separate Purchase Required)"

There is another, barely readable, line which says
"Patching this drive for support under Mac OS X is possible using Christian Moller's PatchBurn Software, located here." Clicking on the word "here" takes you to a site from where you can download a software patch that will make the drive compatible with iLife and the FInder. It does work, I used it myself on a couple of installs.

See if you can find your drive on the site and search through the fine print for the same sort of thing.
