G4 display gone mad!

Apr 1, 2007 4:17AM PDT

Having turned on my G4 today I've noticed that the display has gone weird on me.

It appears that the desktop is slightly too big for the screen and when I move the cursor the desktop moves. Hard to explain without seeing it, but imagine I put the cursor in the top right corner of the screen, the bottom left of the screen disappears and vice versa. As I move the cursor around the screen, the desktop moves very slightly to compensate all the time.

It's incredibly annoying and I can't find a solution, or a reason why it's happening.

Can anybody offer any advice?

A G4 what

are we dealing with here and what OS version is it running?

Whatever it is, take a look at the monitor preference pane and make sure that it is set to something around 1024 X 768 with millions of colors.
If this is a CRT display, take a look at the Geometry settings. Try to make the visible portion of the screen appear inside the plastic surround. There should be a black space between the plastic bezel and the actual picture.

If you have an LCD on that G4, there is not a lot you can do with the geometry. Just check the resolution.

Have you installed anything new lately?

G4 screen issues
Apr 1, 2007 8:39AM PDT

Hi P,

Managed to solve th eproblem. It seems my screen has somehow 'zoomed' in on itself...having scoured through the preferences I found that I could turn off the ability to zoom in on the display. This seems to have done the trick!

Thanks for your help.
