about 2000 I bought a new 26 inch analogue, then I paid a thousand bucks for a hisense 32 inch hdtv a couple years later, then someone gave me a 40 inch plasma, it was on its last legs, then I went to a 40 inch Sony lcd. But my next TV will be a 4K no question, I don't care what the quality of LCD's will be i'm 4K all the way BUT I will be waiting for super widescreen. My prediction is that 2015 will see 4K take over from HDTV and in 2016 Superwidescreen take over from 16/9 format, then by 2018 8K will take over. By 2020 screen size averages for the home will blow out to a 70 inch but by 2030 your average tv will be 3 metres high and 7 meters long, flexible and can be rolled up. The reason is a person is about 2 metres high and you want to watch a life size person. from there I don't know.
