future of iDEN???

i made my mind of buying a nextel phone and obiviously having nextel as my wireless provider. but i get confused with the news about sprint and nextel merging. what will happened to the iDEN network? will it still be in use?

also...i know this doesnt go w/ the topic but do other countries support iDEN

1. Asking your provider.

2. Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDEN and we see it's a Motorola proprietary item and that may limit it as well as the push to 3G. WiDEN is also noted.

They claim iden will be around untill 2010 but who knows, as far as I know nobody else but the usa has iden

no it wont i belong to many nextel forums the merger will cahnge some things but u can granfather ur plan for a while when it expires and no iden is us mexico and canada the rest of the world use gsm for the most part
