An Android tablet is not too different from an Android phone;
- it has a bigger screen
- generally you can't phone or sms with it (but you can use skype)
- maybe it has more storage

Exactly so Kees, unless having a bigger screen I have not found any difference between them.

Small world.

I find both to be so close that maybe the phone will be what's different.

Yes there are a few apps that won't load without help on one or the other so that's not what's different.

But here's the small world, just last week I picked up a cheap BLU 6 inch unlocked GSM Android phone for 150 bucks. I've made calls with ring.to (see Google's Play Store), sent SMS messages and more without activating the phone. I also made calls with Google's own Hangouts.

Since I can do this on a tablet then what's the diff? The phone.

Geeez, you can do pretty much the same thing with a phone you can with most tablets..it is pretty hard to stick a tablet in your pocket..

Personally I use my android tablet for web browsing. I think that is the only viable use for it. When you have 5inch android smartphones here and there, tablet would not provide too much additional value.

In my opinion Windows tablets are a better solution of you are looking for a device to boost your productivity

Greater browsing experience.

The biggest difference in phones and tablets is 'screen size'. Tablets are better only when you need a device for watching movies, reading eBooks and magazines and need greater browsing experience.

I found it to be LESSER BROWSING EXPERIENCE

Browsing on most tablets seems less than what I get on my common windows laptop. No HULU.com for example.

Tablet provide better browsing experience than addroid phone
Mar 15, 2015 8:22PM PDT

Obvious, There is no doubt about it that laptop/pc provides better browsing experience than any tablet or phone device.

Let's see
Mar 15, 2015 11:41PM PDT

I have this Nexus 7 and this BLU 6 inch smart phone. The 6 inch smart phone has an edge as it has mobile access to the web. Same Chrome browser. Both are limited compared to our Apple or PC laptop browsing.

Speed depends
Mar 17, 2015 7:25PM PDT

I think speed also depends, if you do not have laptop with good configuration, then you may not be able to access the internet so frequently.

Browsing
Mar 22, 2015 5:40PM PDT

I am getting confused. Someone is saying that, he is having good browsing experience and you are telling that you are getting less fruitful browsing experience. Thinking about to postpone my decision to buy a new Tab !! Sad Sad

What to add here?
Mar 23, 2015 2:46AM PDT

Some folk dive in to Android tablets and discover sites that don't work but work on their Apple or Windows PC. It's that simple. Web browsing is one notch less on Android by design. Prime example? No hulu.com for you.

Answer
tablets are better when on the porclean throne
Mar 14, 2015 11:34AM PDT

Seriously, I have both and am pretty sure most who reply will have both. They both can do exactly the same. Some tablets have sims cards so they can also be used for phone calls. It really depends on personal preference as to the tasks you assigned to each. I personally use the tablet more around the house since it is easier to read on it, play games and surf the net. I got the tablet as a laptop replacement based on my needs. When out and about, I use the phone more because of convenience.

Laptop or Tablet
Mar 29, 2015 8:39PM PDT

Hi renegade600, understood your point. Can you help me with a query?

Can a tablet be a full replacement of a laptop? I mean to say, can I do everything with a tablet that I usually do with a laptop?

Alon Solomon

Re: tablet
Mar 29, 2015 9:40PM PDT

That partly depends on what you usually do with a laptop and what OS your tablet has. For example,m if yoiu have a gaming laptop and use it to play a heavy MMORPG, the answer is definitely NO. But if all you do is browsing Internet and looking at youtube, the answer probably is yes.

Why not find a friend with an iPad or an Android tablet and ask him to show what it can and what it can't?
