Fujitsu P1120's Windows XP Operating System Not Working

I have a Fujitsu P1120, 256 mb. 30 gb with a Windows XP home Edition. My notebook was working fine until I had two norton-anti virus technicians,who were installing the norton product by taking over my computer, cancel during the live update process and since then I cannot use the computer. I am getting a message that saids "that windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

What do you mean by "cancel during the live update process"? What did the two Norton technicians cancel?

Have you asked them what they did and how they can repair the system?

Can you boot into Safe Mode and uninstall whatever they installed?

Instructions for booting into Safe Mode here;

Fujitsu P1120's windows xp operating system not working

In reply to: Cancel?

I had the 2007 Norton-Anti Virus product installed on my computer and wanted the Norton technicians to install my 2008 version but apparently it seemed that my 2007 version subscription was renewed, when the Norton technician, who took control of my computer had attemtpted to install the 2008 version, and after the technician registered my product, she began the live update process, which is done after the installation process is completed. Unfortunately, after the technician pressed on the live update button to download the latest updates, she accidentally pressed on the cancel button on the live update box. She then, went into the task manager program to see what processes were still running and while doing this, my computer suddenly shut down and I was getting a message from Windows that the operating system could not be found. After that happen, for several hours, of trying to restart my computer, windows xp was able to start up in a normal fashion. The next day, I contacted the Norton technician and asked him to uninstall the 2007 version and reinstall the 2008 Norton product. He said would not install the 2008 norton product but instead he would run the live update download process again and after awhile, when the norton updates would not download, he press the cancel button and when he did a message appeared from Windows that said that canceling now might damage the operating system but the technician press the yes button and while doing this he decided to download the norton 2008 product from their website. When the download process was 95 % complete my computer went down again. I would like to add that I have the free firewall version of Zone Alarm that is installed on my computer and I asked both technicians if I should uninstall the Zone Alarm product before they install the Norton product and they both said it was not necessary. I have tried repeatedly to restart my windows xp but have received the message on my computer: Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load need DLLS for Kernel and also received this message: Invalid boot. INI file. I appreciate any suggestions you have regarding this problem with my computer.
