Question

Fujitsu LifeBook T2010 Tablet failed to boot up

Jun 19, 2013 11:58AM PDT

I have a Fujitsu LifeBook T2010 Tablet installed with Windows Vista. Recently, it kept boot up to a point where I was meant to type in the password for the computer. But then the computer stopped there, the mouse could not be moved, the keyboard had no response either. On several 'system restore' in the Safe Mode, the problem still persists.

Can someone tell me how I can resolve the problem?

How do I reset it?

The usual.

In the CNET Laptop Troubleshooting forum in the welcome thread is a reset. Since it's there I'll summarize.

Remove power, battery, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds, release, apply battery then power and try again. If it fails to show the BIOS screen then it's in need of repairs.

If I can see the BIOS, and still can't get it boot up correctly, what can I do except to buy a new one?

Replace other parts.

Sorry but if you don't tell I have to guess badly.

- With "password" do you mean the password for the computer (the BIOS-password) or the password for your Windows account that you type in the Windows Welcome screen?
- If you can't login, how did you manage to go into Safe Mode to do a system restore?

Before buying a new laptop I'd try a system recovery back to factory conditions. If there are no hardware issues your laptop will be made identical to what it was when you bought in 2008. All you've got to do then:
- install all Windows updates
- install all your applications
- redo all settings
- restore all your data from your backup
Since you have to do the last three items on a new laptop anyway, it's only doing the Windows updates that takes a weekend or so of extra time.
