You need to do some investigation to see where your problem lies:
Number One is to examine the front of the lens for any sign of fingerprints on the lens.
Then:
EXIF information is embedded in every photo file.
It includes shutter speed, ISO setting, and f-stop setting.
On one of your blurred photos, check the EXIF information. If the shutter speed is slower than 1/60th of a second, camera movement while taking a photo is a likely.
Mount your camera on a tripod or set the camera on a table or other solid surface.
Take photos that emulate the situations you described.
If these photos are OK:
You may be moving the camera as you take the photos. Have someone watch you as you snap a photo. Perhaps your are moving the camera downward as you press the shutter button.
If the shutter speed is below 1/30th of a second, you should not be hand holding the camera, as it is near impossible to keep from moving the camera at such low shutter speeds. Examine the EXIF to determine the shutter speed.

Hi, I have had the FujiFilm FinePix Z1 (silver) camera for a couple of months now and I am having a major problem taking clear pictures. It is espeically bad in lower light situations , even when the flash is on. The subject(s) is not usually very far away (~2-6 feet), but almost always comes out blurry. I have played around with many of the settings but nothing seems to help. The pictures are usually of groups of people in a dimly lit setting. I am also getting some strange light halos (circles of light areas) in a lot of the photos. Anyone have any suggestions? Do I have a setting screwed up or am I doing something wrong? Help! Thanks!
