Fuji Finepix 4900 Zoom vs Canon Powershot A95

Nov 28, 2004 8:21AM PST

I have been using a Fuji Finepix 4900 zoom and thinking of changing to a Powershot A95.. is this a good idea - will I get better picture quality?
Any help appreciated.

I don't know about this one.

Take a look at the specifications side-by-side:

That 4 year old camera was Fuji's top of the line at the time it was sold. It should be classified as a Semi-Pro camera.

The obvious improvement is going from 2.4meg to 5meg pixels.

But you are going backward in other areas, such as zoom. 6x to 3x

I really don't think you will be satisfied with the A95 as a replacement for the Fuji 4900.

Thank you for sending that link - it's very helpful. Do you think that the Panasonic FZ20 is a good one??

I have heard good things about the Panasonic FZ20.
I have not used one. Like the idea of image stabilization. And a Leica lens is desirable.

While you are looking.....take a look at the new Nikon 8800. That is a camera that has it all.
A bit expensive, but not much more than your Fuji 4900.
