Fuji Finepix 2600 Zoom Error

Feb 14, 2004 10:58PM PST

If anyone can help me with this I would be so grateful. I got this camera as a gift Christmas 2001. Halloween of last year I got a "Zoom Error". The camera does NOTHING but beep at me, so I don't know what it has to do with the zoom. According to the manual, with this message you are supposed to turn the camera off and on a few times and this should correct it (??!!). I did that. Many times. I also put in new batteries. Nothing has ever corrected it. The camera store where it was purchased told me not to fix it, to just buy a new one! When I mentioned this to my mom (who was the purchaser) she got upset with me and said she paid $300 for that camera, and I'd better not just toos it and buy a new one. So I feel like I have to fix it now.

So I'm gonna mail it off per Fuji's instructions on their website. Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone been able to correct this Zoom Error problem on their own?

2. For anyone who has sent off a camera to a repair facility, approximately how long did it take, and what was your cost?

Thanks so much...

please help me with my fuji A210
Nov 1, 2005 5:02AM PST

I have a fuji a210 digital camera, which i know nothing about! When I turn my camera on, i can go to playback mode, but when i switch it to take a picture, the light flashes and it turns off. The lens doesn't retract, it just shuts down. It doesn't say zoom error or anything, it just turns off. Can anyone help me? I tried turning it on and off and switching the batteries but so far it hasn't helped.

okay, i just kept messing with it and turning it off and on for like 15 minutes, then i tried pulling on the lens and that made it worse... so i went into the menu and turned the lcd off and then it worked... so it went back in and turned the lcd back on and now it works fine. Irratating but i am thankful it works againHappy

Fuji A210 battery voltage problem
Dec 3, 2008 2:13AM PST

My A210 has the same problem as you described. I found that if I connected an external battery source to the power jack and increased the voltage from the normal 3volt to 3.6volt the camera will operate normally. This leads me to think that something internally has gone up in resistance or that something internally is drawing more current and
effecting the internal voltage buss causing the camera to go through a
power failure mode. If any one has a fix for this let us know.

I got the same problem with my three month old S1000FD, it suddenly gave Focus error during a shoot. I switched off the camera then pushed the lense very gently back to its original position...then i tapped 10 times just beside on the lens...then switched it on....HOLA!! its now working perfectly.

I found this link to be helpful: http://www.ethagnawl.com/?p=87

"... after some toying around I was able to gently - cannot emphasize this enough - pull the lens outward by its sides and back into place."

I bought a FujiFilm Finepix XP10. After taking about 30 photos, the camera started exhibiting the infamous "Zoom Error." When I called the FujiFilm repair center and explained that hundreds of consumers are complaining about the "Zoom Error" phenomenon, the representative glibly responded that there is no evidence of any widespread problem and that customers who complain on web forums are just whining because they didn't get their way. Furthermore, he explained that I should pay shipping costs to send the defective camera back. Since then I have created a Facebook group called "Never Buy Fujifilm Again." If you are experiencing issues with this company please join the Facebook group to make the shareholders at FujiFilm appreciate the power of consumer action!
