FTP problems!!!!!!!

Sep 14, 2005 12:18AM PDT

We have an FTP site, and it is set up to be able to read and write.
However, whenever someone tries to connect with a Mac in Os X..... they cannot upload anything at all.
I tried the proxy settings, but am not sure I did it right.
Any suggestions AT ALL would be EXTREMELY helpful!!!!

Thank you very much,
Jon

Try the usual PASV

Have them SET PASV. Sorry, but without the name of their FTP CLIENT, I can't be more specific.

Using finder windows - PASV already set in Proxy window
Sep 14, 2005 3:20AM PDT

I have it set on PASV. I am just using the ''apple+K'' command to open the network connections dialog box and login to the FTP site that way. It is the same thing as opening Safari and typing in the ftp address in the address bar - it opens the finder windows to navigate the FTP site.
Any more ideas? I am desparate here!!!!
Thanks for the help.

Try a real FTP client. There must be one that you've used other than safari.

Hah! I'd love to....

I would absolutely LOVE it if a.) I could tell my customers that and actually have them TAKE my advice!!! and b.) If that would work...
I just use a small Java client, and it works no problem. I have a client that has tried using Fetch, Transmit, and the "Connect to Server" dialog box... and he can connect on all three of them, but it does not let him upload files.
This is why I am stuck!

Thanks again,
Jon

Last swing of the hammer. I wonder if..

We need to use the ftp url such as...

"Current browsers support passwords in the URL, making them usable with our site that requires passwords for areas other than /pub. To use passwords with a web browser, the URL includes the userid and password. Use a URL like the following, substituting the correct userid and password for "userid" and "password" in the URL. Note the userid and password following the slashes. If you are working on a project with a member of our staff, you will be given the userid and password to substitute in the URL.

ftp://userid:password@ftpgis.pima.gov
"

Unfortunately....

Well... unfortunately, that is one step that we have already done. We have a link set up for that, which the salespeople email to the clients. We haven't had problems yet, but it seems as of lately people with Mac OS X have been having problems.
I am sorry that I didn't explain all of this in the first posting - but at least we are making progress!!!!!! ........ Right?

Thanks again,
Jon
