They are runnibng the Onkyo TX-SR875 in their ad in Dallas for 899.00. I guess they are closing them out. Wish I needed another receiver.

the 805
Sep 19, 2008 4:43AM PDT

for all intents and purposes is as good as the 875. Aside from the singular exception of Reon HQV. But if one is primarily a BD watcher, or has excellent VP/scaling in the TV already . . .

Rusty, a couple of folks landed the 805 last week at Frys for $499. This price difference with the 875 gets you a $230 Insignia BDP with $170 in the pocket.

Grin

I'm never going to leave you alone, am I? Silly

p.s. the new 806 is not going to be nearly as worthy as the about-to-be-superceded-if-not-already 805.

Agreed...

if there's still 805's left then I'd rather have it for 499.00 than an 875 for 899.00. I assume the 805's will run out first and these might be good alternatives, though. My Fry's is already out of 805's.

OPPO blue ray, huh? It'll be hard to lay off of that one if it's truly full featured. Just don't know what the %^$# I'd do with it since I'm so happy with downloads. At some point I'm just gonna have to set up a second room to handle all the buying overflow. Don't need any of it but I really want to finish out my Monitor Audios's and get the HSU whatever 3 with turbo. Trying to hold out for a little more price drop on the 58" Vieta's.

Gonna be out of the country for a little over a week but, when I get back, I gotta order badges for CES. You want me to arrange for you to pick one up at will call? Not that big a deal really as you could probably make up a phantom company and get a free badge. Still, if you want one, let me know.

Thanks man, LOL

oh I don't know if I want to go. I hear its a zoo, and not all that. Though my friend won a poker tournament there and won a 5.1 DCM speaker set two seasons ago. I'll think about it. Happy Though I think Im gonna pass . . .

The HSU turbo is ugly IMO. But Im sure it rocks for the money.

58" vieta? you mean viera? wait. don't you have TWO sxrd's? Are you going to try to open up a sports bar in your residence? Good luck getting the license!

anticipating a revisit to their high end, hi-fi store, err, Best Buy?

Nope, Germany this time.

The exchange rate will be working against me instead of for me on this trip. So, I won't even bother looking.

Too bad...

it is a zoo but you would be able to view, listen and ask questions of reps from companies that you talk about all the time. Then there's all those sound rooms where you could listen to classical music from all those 20,000 a pair speakers brands. I can tell you from my experience as a seller at a trade show that people like us that are just looking and don't resell are a nuisance. The thing is, I don't care. The thought of you turned loose at CES just cracks me up. I bet they would talk about you for years.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If you like tricked up gimmicks, that turbo on the HSU is cool.

Yep, I mean Viera. I like the ethernet connection on the new TV's, too. Don't think I'll ever buy another video component that doesn't have one. I only have one SXRD but I guess I've bought so much stuff, it must seem like I must have two.

well, on another note

I think you should use some of that piggy bank money, and rent yourself a nice Porsche for a day. Then let loose on the Autobahn!!!!

I've driven west to east thru that country before. That highway is pretty insane!!!!

But I was in a $500 beater... oh man... stories. It was a bit nerve racking at times.

Unfortunately, I never get very far out of Cologne...
Sep 19, 2008 6:20AM PDT

it's a great town but I've been there many times and pretty much seen it all. I'll probably only be riding with suppliers and on bullet trains. Letting loose on the autobahn is something I'd like to do someday, though.
