FRUSTRATED with new imac!!!!!!!

Aug 5, 2007 2:49PM PDT

So I am definately a new mac user. I am a photographer and heard that if I switch to mac I won't ever want to go back. The only complaint I have so far with my 20' imac is that I can't burn a DVD that can be viewed on a PC from iphoto. I have tried everything!!! I can burn a CD that can be viewed on a PC, but not a DVD. What I am doing wrong? It's like the DVD just doesn't work. Is there a special type of DVD to buy for mac's or something???? PLEASE HELP. I'm desperate.

DVD's

There is no special kind of DVD that is required for a Mac. I usually use DVD-R from Office Depot in spindles of 100.
As I mentioned before, you cannot burn a DVD from iPhoto using the SHARE function.

A way to do it is to use iDVD and create a slide show from pictures that you have stored in iPhoto.
OR
You could allow the DVD to mount on the desktop by choosing FINDER when prompted by the system, and drag the pictures you want from iPhoto onto the DVD. Then just burn the DVD.
OR
You could purchase a copy of Toast, the burning software of choice for the Mac, set it to make a DVD for PC & Mac, (or UDF), drag your pictures in to the Toast burning window and burn the DV.

All of the above methods create a DVD that is readable by both Windows and Mac machines.

This is laborious but will get you going...

Create a new burn folder on your desktop (Control + Click and chose New Burn Folder)

Open the Burn Folder window

Open iPhoto

Drag the images you want to burn to DVD from iPhoto into the Burn Folder.

Then burn to DVD.

Cheers
