Frozen search page

Dec 7, 2009 11:05AM PST

I run Vista on a Gateway computer, Model GT5625E, Intel pentium duo-CPU 2140 @ 1060 GHz-32 bit OS.

I recently downloaded the firefox browser. Last Friday I opened the browser to do a search. The browser took me to the search page on yahoo. When I click on a link the page freezes up. This happens in both Firefox and IE 6. I can type in a known addy and get there, I just can't "search". I tried doing a system restore, to no avail. Maybe I didn't go back far enough. I ran a virus scan and malware scan- all checked out neg. It is very frustrationg to not be able to search for something. Thanks for any help.

Firstly try uninstalling IE6, this can be done by going to control panel, programs, unisntall programs, click on the program you want to uninstall.

Try installing IE8 as it has better security.

Now once you have installed IE8, install google toolbar. Now Try searching.

What happens when you change the search provider in your browsers search field?

Frozen search page

Do you mean who I use to search? Google freezes as does yahoo. I have discovered if I type in my search query in the address bar it takes me to a different seach engine and I can most certaintly get anywhere from that search page. Why can I get there from the addy bar and be able to click on links and go there? Be unable to click on a link on the search page because it froze up.
