Frozen Screen on Samsung Galaxy SII...Is this a virus?

by jbrooksrn / December 19, 2011 11:06 PM PST

I clicked on a menu that dropped down on my Samsung Galaxy for a software update and now my screen is white with "Software Update" written on the screen and I cannot get this screen to disappear. Is this a virus? Have I just screwed up my phone??? HELP!

Just wondering .....

Did you try to remove the battery and turn the phone back on ?? I doubt it is a virus, more likely just a bad installation.

Yes, I did

Yes, I removed the battery and then put it back in and the screen returns.

I tried to restart it and it will go black for a second, then the Samsung logo pops up, then it goes right back to the white screen.

Any other thoughts?!?!?

Found an AT&T message board with this solution and it worked.

How to fix the Samsung Galaxy S2 sgh-i777 Stuck on Software Update Loading Screen

1. Turn off the phone by holding the power button until off
2. Hold the Power Button and Volume Up AND Down buttons until the recovery screen pops up
3. Press volume down to select the Clear Cache Partition selection and then press the power button to select
4. Reboot the device

Thank you!!!

The most beautiful phone ever has one wildly annoying issue

The Samsung Galaxy S8's fast speeds and fantastic curved screen make it a top phone for 2017, but the annoying fingerprint reader could sour your experience.
