Frozen links

Jul 27, 2004 6:07AM PDT

Hello all.I have a HP Pavilion Mod.512w windowsXP,40gb
hardrive, lots of memory---problem, on 8 out of 10 web pages when I click on a link on the web page--nothing
happens.I am still online, but its like the link freezes up. Sometimes when I click on the link it will
highlight the link in blue.I might also get a message
like java script error when I type that into the location box(like it said to do)I get a Netscape unable to locate the server www. yahoo.comkeyword.
Do you have anything that will help me with this mess.
Thank You, the drifter.

The message "server www. yahoo.comkeyword." looks to be like some SPYWARE is tracking your mouseclicks. You may want to read this article.

Hi Bob,thanks for the reply. I tried that link and it
froze up too.So I typed it in the search engine, and it came up. I must be pretty dense when it comes to computer explanations, because I can't find anything in all his talking that will help me find a solution to my
problem. Perhaps you could give me a short and simple
answer, or isn't there one. Thanks for any more help you might give a oldtimer that trys to keep his PC
running despite all the headaches. Thanks, Bill.

Today's pests.

I'm sure you know what a virus is. "Parasites" are not virus, but can have the same issues as you find with a virus. The antivirus companies don't deal with these new breed of pests because they don't behave like a virus and spread to other machines. "non-viral."

The DOXDESK article may be hard for people to grasp at first, but in short, parasites are software that installed on your machine that can cause operational issues.

Tools in the doxdesk article such as Adaware, Spybot can help detect and remove these items.

Maybe a short term solution for you would be to just try FIREFOX for a browser to see if the lockups stop?

Hello Bob,
I tried sending a reply to your last message 5 times on
my Netscape browser, each time i tried to preview the message it froze up. I downloaded the Mozzila Firefox web
browser and installed it. So if you get my thank you now
you will know that I am very happy. Good Health, Bill.
