FrontPage Express Basic HTML

Oct 22, 2005 5:19AM PDT

I am running FrontPage Express on an XP system. I want to create a form and save the input of the form to a .txt file or something equally as simple. I dont want to do this online with a web server involved or anything like that. My goal was to do it all locally. Can this be done? I know the full blown frontpage can save to access but I was hoping I would not have to go that route.

Thanks in advance for any possible input.

Did you ever think of creating your form with Excel or Open Office, which is a free program.

Hope this helps.

Good suggestion

Even so....

I have created forms with Word. Tried with open office a little. Word 2003 does forms ok. Check boxes etc. The problem I find there is that my form is not very portable if I want to take it from one computer to the next I have to have Word/office/open office on that computer. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE IDEA OF AN HTML FORM THAT WOULD BE LOCAL ONLY IS THAT HTML OPENS REALLY FAST. IN MY HTML CODE I CAN DO "ACTION" AND SET "ACTION" TO MAILTO:BLAHBLAH@BLAHBLAH.BIZ HOWEVER THAT MIGHT BE AS GOOD AS IT GETS. I JUST THOUGHT THAT SINCE THE INPUT OF MY FORM GETS PASTED INTO A MAIL MESSAGE, THAT TEXT COULD IN SOME WAY BE COPIED INTO A TEXT FILE INSTEAD IF THERE WERE SOME SCRIPT TO DO THAT. IT SEEMED EASIER THEN GOING THE VISUAL BASIC ROUTE. OF COURSE WITH VISUAL BASIC I HAVE TO HAVE .NET INSTALLED AND ALL THAT. THE WHOLE THING THAT I WAS TRYING WAS TO KEEP IT KIND OF SIMPLE. I SHOULD TRY IT WITH EXCEL ALSO AND SEE HOW THAT GOES.

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE RESPONSE.....

Try this

Try coping the form to Open Office.

Save it as a

Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls;.xlw)

Then it can be opened with Excel as well as Open Office.

Did you try doing this using Wordpad?

If my memory serves me correctly, wordpad can be copied from and pasted into emails.

Just a few suggestions.

Hope this helps.
