Front panel icons not illuminated on 6 series LCD

Dec 17, 2008 2:35AM PST

I've purchased a Samsung LCD 6 Series, an LE40A615 (full model code: LE40A615A3FXXC) and have some issues.
First, i'm looking for a firmware upgrade but the Samsung website doesn't seem to have any information about this model at all!

But what is really annoying me, is the buttons on the right side of the front panel. They're there, they work, but they're almost invisible since they are not illuminated. I've seen other Samsung models where these buttons light up when you turn on the set.

Anyone with the same problem, and/or hopefully some solution?

I'm living in The Netherlands, i bought the set through iBood.com. I believe this set is originally only sold in Eastern-Europe?

Sound problems

Anyone with an idea yet?

I've also noticed that sometimes, the sound disappears. When i turn the device off and on, it's back again. Some firmware upgrade maybe?

UK support
Jan 3, 2009 5:08AM PST

mrskoef,

The buttons on the 6-series are not designed to light up.

I've tried, but I think the closest tech support number for the UK is 0845-SAMSUNG.

The firmware and instructions for that model are at this link:

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/download/supportDown.do?group=television&type=television&subtype=LCD&model_nm=LE40A615A3F&disp_nm=LE40A615A3F&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=FM&vType=L&prd_ia_cd=02010100

But I would recommend double checking with the service center in your area to make sure this is the appropriate firmware for your region.

Current firmware versions

Thanks for figuring this out!

Right now, i have the following firmware versions:

T-PRLPEUS-1004.0
T-PRLPEUMD-1017.0
T-PERLDEUC-1014.2

so i guess T-PRLPEUMD-1019.0 is OK for me, right?

I would think yes... but...

mrskoef,

I would think yes. But please double check with your local customer service center. I just don't have the authority on our UK models, and they do.

That said, the country code matches and the newer version is a higher version than the one currently listed on your set.

Keep me posted!
