Question

from Garagband 4 to Garageband 5??

Feb 1, 2012 2:15AM PST

Howdy all.

So i have a mac book with OS 10.5.8 and a version of Garageband 4 on it.

I am trying to open GB files that were created on a GB5.1 version.

The error i am recieving:
"CAN'T OPEN SONG This song requires a newer version of GarageBand. Please update to the latest version of GarageBand before opening this song". I've downloaded GaragBand 5 update but when I try to install it I get another alert.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS!

Answer
You are repeating an old lesson.

New apps usually can open old versions of the files.

Old apps rarely open new versions of the files.

Fix? Get the new app.

Answer
That update that you downloaded is NOT Garage Band 5

It is, however, an update to Garage Band 5 which requires Garage Band 5 to be installed for it to work.
