freezing/rebooting

Apr 11, 2005 12:35AM PDT

hi,

iv had an ongoing problem for ages, where my pc freezes and reeboots itself...

iv finally figured out its the processor (1700), in the bios i can switch between 1100 and 1700, the pc doesnt like the 1700 setting...

if i set it to 1100 i have no problems, but at 1700 it will freeze/reboot during bootup or shortly after when i run a program or something...

it used to run fine at 1700 with win98 but started having these problems after installing (not imediatly but not long after)xppro and adding more memory...

iv cheched the memory and its not faulty and iv updated the bios which had no effect, the temps look fine in bios so i dont think its overheating, but i dont really know what im doing regarding hardware etc...

any ideas please???

athlon 1700(1495)
xppro sp2
384 ram
20GB hd
