Freeware to convert Quicktime to Windows Media

Apr 12, 2005 8:51AM PDT

I need a freeware (also virus- and spyware-free) application that converts Quicktime .mov files to Windows Media movie files. The converted file quality should be relatively good.

I will tell what to use that is freely available. I will not tell you where the items are or give any step by step instructions.

1. Camtasia 2.0 Still out in the wild as the last free version that works. Use this to capture the video.

2. AUDACITY. Easy to find. Use this for the audio.

3. Look up WMP MINI FAQ on google.com if the capture is black from Camtasia. I will not discuss how screen capture workarounds help Camtasia. Do not ask me to explain how WMP or Video acceleration settings helps.

4. The final tool is VIRTUAL DUB to join the video and audio back together. Again I will not teach how to use this tool.

Best of luck,

Bob
