Free online pest/spyware scanner

Feb 6, 2004 10:14PM PST

"PestScan from PestPatrol is an ActiveX-based scanner that runs right from this website, downloading just a few small components to your computer. It?s a quick and easy way to scan your PC for pests in the places they?re most likely to be hiding. And, because the PestScan results link directly to our huge PestInfo database, you can find out exactly what the danger level is."

Notes:
1. This is a promotional tool from PestPatrol, in the same way the AV sites offer free scans to tout their products. It asks you to register, so PestPatrol can send marketing stuff to your address. However, look to the right of the text and there is a link to run the scan anonymously, without registering.

2. This is a scan only, it will not fix anything it finds. Could be useful as a standby if you have trouble running your own anti-pest programs, perhaps because of a CWW infection.
