The forum policies state "This is a forum of ideas, so advertisements are not allowed in this venue." I consider this post to be not and idea, but an advertisement, albeit a non-commercial one. So I'm locking this thread.

Better search on eBay for people giving their laptop away or selling it cheap, or visit a second-hand shop.

And a tip: it's better to have more descriptive subjects. It ain't clear if you offer free laptops (that would be deleted immediately) or want a free laptop. So in the future, spend a few seconds to think about the subject line. It helps getting the right answers.

Try Craigslist, Freecycle (google.com those) for places you see free laptops.

But for free you find you get those Pentium 1 133 MHz laptops with 32 Megabytes of RAM that run Windows 95 and not much more.

But it was free.

And don't take that free laptop unless you can really use it. Imagine the person I gave one of our 64 MB wonders to was later upset because they couldn't upgrade it to run XP. Yup, I had told them that no RAM could be added and it was what it was and to not accept it in hopes it could be improved.
