Free Host

Sep 9, 2005 7:44AM PDT

Is ther a free host out there, that does not place ads, or scripts in webpages that you host, and has atleas 75 megs of space? I tried 95mb.com, but most of the times my site does not display. And then they open King Articles pop-unders. I was angry, then I found out copying the pop-under script and changing it a bit, will do it. It opened, and then closed by itself. But whenever I insert text fields, it inserts rubbish into it. @ BePlaced.com, they insert a free counter link, and add some javascript, and interupts my javascripts. So does anyone know a Free Host that does not add garbage on uploaded HTML, and other types of documents?

Thanks in advance.

''Free Lunch'' with a Price?
Sep 9, 2005 2:31PM PDT

Hi there,

Oh my, am I contraditing? OK, what I am trying to point out is that there is no free lunch in this world, sad to say so. There is always limitations that will come with these free web hosting services.

Anyway, I do have a recommendation and some tips for you. if you don't use flash or multimedia, it will be a good web host for you. ATSPACE.COM, they provide 50 MB web hosting space, unlimited traffic, domain hosting, subdomain hosting, FTP account... Sounds good huh... as I said there is no free lunch in this world.
So what is the price you have to pay?
- Limited to 200KB maximum per file size
- No multimedia support
- No scripting language support for PHP

It's one of the quality ones that are lying around. My suggestion is to make use of two free web hosting to compliment each other with the lack of support by using hotlinking method.
E.g. ATSPACE does not support multimedia but 95mb.com supports that, so you can place the multimedia file on 95mb.com and link it through your HTML(placed at ATSPACE). Please take note that not all free web hosting allows hotlinking for files served on their web host server.
It's troublesome I would say, and most likely you will encounter problems if the linking is not done properly. But I would say this is the simplest solution I can think of.

Well, if this is not your cup of tea, too bad. What you can do is use Freewebspace - www.freewebspace.net to source for a new and better web host or you can try googling Free Web hosting and pray that a good free web host will show up... Happy

Good Luck

Ok

I understand. By the way, is it legal for me to create a code that disturbs the codes inserted by the servers? Because, like on www.95mb.com, they open a pop-under. I coppied that code and pasted it on the same page, and edited it, and now the pop-under does not open. So is that legal (to block server ads)?

Agreement Infringed
Sep 10, 2005 2:38PM PDT

Hi there,

I am sure before you signup for their service, you have to acknowledge an agreement before you can use their services.

Underwritten in the agreement, one of their condition would be to accept popup before you can proceed with the signup. I wouldn't say it would be legal binding to such an extend that you would be sue, although it would be up to the company's discretion on their action. Most likely they will terminate your web hosting account if they discover any infringement on the agreement.
