Free Fax program for Vista Home Premium

I too was totally disappointed by Microsofts absurd decision to not include a fax program with window vista home premium. Yes, we "moms" need to fax documents too! Anyway, I stumbled upon the following response from a previous thread in which the writer included info on a free fax program. All I can say is I just downloaded it and sent out a fax that I really needed to get out tonight. It worked perfectly and with absolutely no difficulties!

Hope it helps.

Success with Free USRobotics FAX Application Vista Home Prem
by rawellman / May 9, 2011 1:32 PM PDT

Good Work Around to FAX with Vista Home Premium

On May 9, 2011 I successfully downloaded, unzipped and installed a free application from USRobotics ( which was simple to use.

I verified that I could BOTH send and receive FAX using the free FAX verification system offered by HP

I sent a 1 page test FAX and as per HP's instructions:

"Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme
your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, we will generate a
return fax to you within five minutes confirming that we received your
fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your
fax machine."

Very cool free way to work around Vista Home Premium's failure to include a FAX application with the Home Premium OS.

Excellent program
by robsmily / June 15, 2012 8:52 AM PDT

I just installed the US robotics program as well. It works great with Vista Home Premium, and it is really easy to use. I was only able to connect at 14k speed however, even though my modem is 56k. nonetheless, it worked great. I recommend with 10 stars.

thanks to the original poster for the link. I looked for quite a while for a decent fax program, without all the usual free trial b/s and unwanted toolbars.

This one was b/s, no tool bars, no trail period. Just FREE!!!!!
