Sites that say they provide freeware but as your downloading it and read the agreements you realize it's a free trail only. Grrrrr, that one wastes may time.
It's pretty obvious that most freeware are Betas or old stuff and little more then advertising but frankly I'm happy we have this option. What if we had to buy everything that we used?
Despite the occasional aggravations I like the net pretty much the way it is. With lots of free goodies; it's Sort of like Christmas all year.
Happy Holidays!
Has anyone noticed that almost all companies are now advertising their software as 'free' or 'Free downloading' (when you get the download site) ? A obviously simple yet very irritating search tactic on behalf of greedy companies to confuse people who are searching for free software.
People have NEVER been charged for downloading, so why are all these companies now stating that they suddenly 'don't' though they never did in the first place ? This seems a very cynical ploy to swamp searches results for 'free', with the highest priority results being their 'not-at-all-bloody-free-you-idiot' software.
Most people who search for free software do so because they can not afford the extortionate and over-priced stuff !
It is still possible to find sites that recommend free software (such as freewaregenius.com being a good example) This also makes it very difficult for those who are genuinely creating and giving software away for free to advertise. and how is it that none of the major sites which promote themselves as Internet user advocates are complaining about this nefarious practice ?
