FREE copy of Opera 8, today only....

Aug 30, 2005 6:58AM PDT

Just a heads-up to all CNET members who haven't stopped by Download.com today:

TODAY ONLY, as part of the browser's 10th birthday celebration, you can download a free copy of the ad-free version of Opera and receive a legitimate registration code. Just head on over to Cnet's own download.com and pick yourself up a copy today. And remember, the party ends at 12am PDT, so act fast!

I've never used Opera but a freebie is always worth downloading. Now I'll give it a shot.

Did all of that. . .

It installed perfectly, no problems, regestered, the whole ball of wax. But it won't work with my SBC Yahoo! home page. I can't even log on, SBC says it'll only work with IE, Netscape, Mozilla et al. Allowed cookies too.

It runs, I can browse etc. But I didn't like the look of it either. Oh well, it was interesting but I uninstalled it. I have kept the installer and reg key for future use.

Cool Browser
Aug 30, 2005 9:33AM PDT

I just downloaded it. It is a great browser. I was using firefox but after using Opera for awhile i uninstalled it. Symtec just did a test to see which was safer IE or Firefox. IE won, Check it out at their site. Its a fact now. IE is safer than Firefox. Opera has it all. It is a fun browser to play with. And no ads today only. So you all should check it out.
