Free AVG and home networking

Mar 1, 2011 4:40PM PST

I'm attempting to set up a home network so that my desktop can print wirelessly on the Hp printer which is directly connected to my laptop. The desktop is running AVG free ware, Windows XP and the laptop is running Norton, Windows XP. The laptop is showing the shared files/workgroups fine. I believe AVG firewall is interferring with my desktop doing the same. Any advice? And I'm only moderately computer savvy...not too advanced. Thanks!

My mistake (the desktop isn't my computer). it is NOT free AVG. It is AVG 10.0 Internet Security. And now the desktop is detecting the laptop but it won't print to it.
