Free anti-virus software

by arpy12003 / December 12, 2009 2:47 PM PST

Can anyone recommend some good, free anti-virus software? I don't want a full security suite as I already have good programs for spyware, etc.

AVG's 7.5 was just this, but 8.5 "improved" it, added all the bells and whistles and now it is a resource hog and ineffective too.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I"m Using Anti-Vir & Am Basically
by tobeach / December 13, 2009 1:49 PM PST

happy. Outside of 2 occasions when I got false positives (many fewer than Avast & AVG)( I keep heuristics set for "High" knowing may cause more F.P.s) it has never failed me or let anything in. Ideal if what you want is just a straight A/V. I suggest try it first. Happy
