Free Anti-Virus Programs

For the last couple of years I have been using AVG which is a free anti-virus program from Grisoft. I received a notice last week that their free version was being discontinued as of January 15, 2007. Can anyone recommend another free anti-virus program? I don't mind paying for a retail program but I stopped using Norton because I feel that you should only have to pay once for the program and not every year! Thanks to anyone that can recommend some free programs.

You misread the notice. 7.1 ends. 7.5 remains free.
