Question

frame rate unstable

Feb 8, 2017 6:15AM PST

i just started building my new gaming pc. im not experienced at all with computers. I have a amd fm2 a6 5400k 3.6 cpu I have 8 gb of ram ddr3 and a msi a68hm grenade motherboard. I have a gtx 1050 ti and a Cooler Master Elite V2 - 550W Long-Lasting Power Supply with Full Electrical Protection I also have a cpu fan but I just don't know why it doesn't work. I have the computer running on windows 10 theres probably tons of settings I could mess with to help my gaming but I just don't know what to do. my frames go from 50 to 5 and back and fourth. maybe a driver issue but I downloaded the ones I needed from the disks that I was provided with my gpu and motherboard.

My experience with the AMD A series is they respond to dual channel better than the rest of the AMD CPU series. This is by observation as well as by upgrading a few too many of this series.

My motherboard supports 32GB and I already have 1 stick of 8GB ram ddr3. Should I replace it and the other slot with 2 4GB or should I just buy another 8 Gb

Are setting up with 16GB RAM. 8GB is great for almost everything else but gamers tend to go to the little bit more. You have a lot of optimizing to do on this PC to get the games running smoothly but your choice at the end of the week. 2x4 or 2x8. Budget may decide.

seeing that I already have 8GB im just gonna buy another 8 and see if that helps. im taking a little chance but I think it will be ok.

Make sure it's the same "density"
Feb 10, 2017 4:57PM PST

typically a motherboard will use one chip's SPD to be the setting for both chips. If you have both low and high density chips this might cause a problem.

also

I did a reading of the SPECCY and came up with 3 changes if this was my PC.

One of them was a freebie.

Did you get that done?

My question was about the FREE item.

The DNS change and testing with NAMEBENCH is a free step. Can help a little.

Budget
Feb 10, 2017 10:17AM PST

I think where the op has a problem is with their budget.

The budget allows for.
1. One 8GB stick to add to their existing 8GB stick.
2. One 2x4GB kit to replace their 8GB stick.

A 2x8GB kit does not fit the budget.

budget wasnt a problem.
Feb 10, 2017 10:33AM PST

I would have ordered 2 8GB if I knew to in the first place but yes now I don't have that much money to get it working nicely.

correct
