Question

FPS drop in multiple games

Aug 6, 2019 3:45PM PDT

The last few weeks i have been getting major fps drops in games.
Examples are fifa, rocket league and gta where normally i would be able to play high settings on 60 fps easily.
Now what happens is that it will run on 60fps but randomly drop to 30 or lower, stay there for a few seconds and then goes back up.
Anyone who can help me with this problem?

We've discussed this a few times.

A recurring issue is how W10 can automatically install a new video driver and override the one you had.

The 960m isn't a bad card but as time passes you will see complex scenes drop to what you noted.

Anyhow, consider trying this:

1. DISABLE W10's auto driver update. It's on the web.
2. Now install the GPU driver of your choice and it will stick.

In addition to what Robert said.

Get a can of compressed air and give each vent port on the laptop a couple of shots of air.

Do that daily for a week.
