Forum redesign changes to take place on 3/31/05

Mar 29, 2005 8:41AM PST

Hi everyone,

If all goes according to plan, we will be implementing some forum redesigns throughout the forums on March 31st between the hours of 3-6 PM PST. There will only be brief outage of the forums during this time (approx. 10 minutes).

Almost 99.9% of the changes will be cosmetic and link placement changes. So there should be very little confusion when the changes have taken place. I hope you all like the changes.

Please let me know what you think when the changes have taken place.

Thanks!
-Lee

Need to get rid of a button in the post view
Mar 30, 2005 5:53AM PST

You might as well get rid of that "create new discussion" button from the post view. It's nothing but a nuisance and has no useful purpose whatsoever. That button belongs on the main tree view only. Occasionally someone clicks that button and starts a new thread when they intended to reply to a post.

Lee one request please........
Apr 1, 2005 1:13AM PST

It really is a PITA when reading very long threads to have to scroll clear to the top to get back to the main page. I would like to see a back to the top button at the bottom of these huge threadsHappy
Thanks Glenda

Apr 1, 2005 5:17PM PST

Could you please have the forum tip

made with bigger print and make it bold or maybe even another color, so it jumps out at the persons creating a new discussion.

Thanks

I apologize, but due to some last minute technical issues, we will be delaying the forum redesign until next week 4/14.

Thanks for your patience...

Why all the cookie-planting attempts?
Apr 8, 2005 6:37AM PDT

I find it really annoying to have to waste time refusing a cookie every time I click on something-like for each of the messages in a long thread. I would like to see a button allowing readers to expand all of the messages in a thread so we could scroll through them all in one continuous, smooth read instead of having to click on each one separately-back and forth, up and down, click, click click. (Rootsweb archives and many other forums have this facility.) 2100 aka eandka

I apologize everyone, the forum redesign will implemented next week on 4/21/05 due to some issues we are having.

I'm almost certain it will take place next week. I do apologize for all the delays.

Best regards,
