Forum Posting Times

Apr 4, 2008 1:55PM PDT

I'd just like to request that the capability be added to have forum post times displayed in local time vs PST.

I understand that this has been addressed countless times before, and that the long-timers here are used to it and accept it. I also understand that the CNet studios are located on the U.S. west coast, so it's most convenient to show PST. I just feel it would be easier to see when a post was actually added with respect to local time without having to convert to PST.

In other boards that I belong to, it's just a matter of setting the time zone in the forum preferences. I know that it's probably not a simple matter to reprogram software, but can it be taken into consideration for a future update to this board?

I must admit

that I would like that as well.

I'm in the UK and I often find it difficult to work out the sequence of posting times.

Ditto...

I'm used to automatically adjusting for Pacific time, but for those forums I visit (non-Cnet) it can be confusing, trying to remember what timezone they go by, so I know how a lot of the less-frequent visitors here feel. It won't be added anytime soon, but I believe it's currently on the wish list.

I just wanted to be sure that it was something that might be considered in the future. I know that there are people across the globe that frequent this site, and it's something that would be very much appreciated. I'm hoping that it is one of the top items that is considered in any future upgrades to the board. This is an otherwise fine site that would greatly benefit from this small improvement.

Thanks for listening.
