Forms... How to upload to server on "Submit"

by roger1941 / September 26, 2010 6:45 PM PDT

Hi. Grateful for some help. I want to include a form on a web site for clients to fill in their details. Then submit this information to a specific file on the web site host server, not by email. Anybody know if this can be done and if so how?

Many thanks

Roger

You can't write from the clients browser to the server directly. So this needs server processing. The details depend on the language used in the server program; could be Java or .Net or PHP for example.

Commonly you have a database (in MySQL or MS SQL Server, for example) to write the data to from your Java, .Net or PHP program.

That's for a starter.

Hi Kees. Many thanks for this reply, problem is that I don?t understand it! New to this and not familiar with the abbreviations. Could you maybe point me to a site where I could download the htm/java or whatever from? Or maybe where I can read up on things?

Regards Roger

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
