Former Bush Official Ends Up In Garbage Can, Dead

Wow, talk about weird stories and unusual endings!

Delaware police released new video on Friday showing John Wheeler, a former senior official in the administration of President George W. Bush, on the street in downtown Wilmington the day before his body was found in a nearby landfill.

Local police and the FBI are trying to figure out how Wheeler's body got in a dumpster picked up by the trash truck in Newark, Del. as early as 4:20 a.m. on New Year's Eve.

The Delaware Medical Examiner has ruled Wheeler's death a homicide but has not released the cause of death, pending the results of toxicology tests. (more at page)

Gets even odder. He obviously was disoriented, but ends up murdered out of town and dumped. Did he get on transportation out of town by himself? Someone lead him away to murder and rob him? Police say he definitely was killed, didn't just die of natural causes. I hope they catch the animal who killed him.

Wheeler's cellphone has been found in a house across the street from his house, and it had a cabbie's phone number entered into it. The cabbie claims he's never had any contact with Wheeler.

The driver, Athel Scott, said he doesn't know how his number got on Wheeler's phone, but he said he does remember seeing him.

"I seen him one day by the Hotel duPont and one day I seen him at the train station going inside that little store, that's all I know," Scott said.
